The state's second-biggest oddball highway, behind
OK-77S, this highway goes from the parent road
to two different historic locations. Therefore, we've got
three terminus points to deal
with.
Southern Terminus: OK-1/63, west of Talihina
Left: 'End' sign, looking sorth.
Right: continuing on down around the corner. The back of the only
assurance sign northbound is at the left end of the picture.
The northern terminus may actually be at the spot where I took the
left picture, the point where the road forks off into two directions,
as there are no signs for 63A anywhere along either fork. The map
at top right, however, suggests the highway splits (if the other fork
wasn't a highway the road wouldn't be red). The official 2003-2004
Oklahoma State Map also suggests the highway splits in two, and since
that's two individual affirmations...
Northwestern Terminus: Choctaw Nation Hospital
Northeastern Terminus: Oklahoma Veterans Center
The actual Veterans Center building was way on
down the road, but these pictures were taken at the point where the
road is no longer at highway specs.
