OK-66
Western Terminus: US-81, El Reno (road continues as Business I-40)

From this point to the Texas State Line, old US-66 was duplexed with either I-40 or one of its business routes, so there is no need to continue the State Highway version of Route 66 past this point. I just wish this section of road had more of the "Historic" shields. The entire time I was on this part of Route 66 (starting back at the OK-4 junction all the way to here) I didn't see one single "Historic" shield.

Also note that the Business I-40 shield is the proper green color, but the "West" and directional shields are blue. The full-fledged Interstate 40 is a half-mile to the south (left) of here.

Eastern terminus: US-60, east of White Oak

There is no 'End' sign at this terminus. When Route 66 was originally decommissioned, OK-66 replaced it all the way to the Kansas State Line, south of Baxter Springs. However, from the above point on 66 was duplexed with a US highway (59, 60, 69 and/or Alt-69). So OK-66 was recently decommissioned back to the point where the duplexing ended.

There are still some junction and directional signs that suggest OK-66 continues, such as the southern terminus of OK-2-North in Vinita, and the US-60/Vinita exit on I-44. These are in error. I drove the entire decommissioned part of the former OK-66, from the above spot all the way to the Kansas State Line, and at no time is there an actual assurance sign along the road for OK-66. In fact, those brown "Historical US-66" signs were few and very far between as well.
