Once OK-16 de-plexes from US-62 in northern Muskogee,
the road goes from being signed East/West to being signed North/South,
hence a Northern terminus instead of an eastern one.
Sidebar: This is at least the second road to be designated OK-16.
The original highway, according to my 1935 road map, traversed from Collinsville
to the Kansas State Line just south of Coffeyville. Today we know that corridor
as US-169.
