PICTURES OF THE WEEK V

Week of September 21, 2003:
OK-3/US-81 southbound, just south of Okarche. The overpass ahead marks the point where the two highways split off and US-81 heads due south towards Texas. This point also marks the end of the Governor George Nigh Northwest Passage, as OK-3 has also been called since the Colorado border, and the start of the Northwest Expressway into Oklahoma City.

Week of September 28, 2003:
South of Wilburton, the first assurance signs along a six-mile stretch of road where the first two sequentially-numbered state highways, OK-1 & OK-2, are duplexed. FYI, OKs-2 & 3 also meet, at one of OK-2's endpoints, in Antlers. OKs-3 & 4 intersect between Piedmont and Yukon. The sequence ends there, however, as OKs-4 & 5 come nowhere close to each other.

Week of October 5, 2003:
Dedication Plaque for the opening of the two-lane Chickasaw Turnpike, between OK-1 north of Ruff & OK-7 west of Sulphur. This plaque is located along the side of the westbound road, at the main tollgate.

Week of October 12, 2003:
Western end of the Keystone/Sand Springs Expressway westbound, as it turns into the Cimarron Turnpike. US-64 leaves the divided limited-access road at this point and takes a more indirect route to the other end of the turnpike. The northern terminus of OK-48 is at the bottom of the exit ramp.

Week of October 19, 2003:
Jct of US-64 and OK-72 in Haskell. Note the signs at the left are both correct, while the one on the right lists OK-72 as a U.S. Highway. OK-72 continues south of this point duplexed with US-64 for the next six miles, followed by a duplexing with US-62 for another nine miles.
