PICTURES OF THE WEEK III

Week of July 13, 2003:
US-75/Cherokee Expressway northbound, just north of the eastern terminus of I-444 at the I-244 junction. Twenty-year-old signs showing the Peoria Ave. exit 3/4-mile away, and the Pine St. exit another quarter of a mile past that. And for the past twenty years, these signs have been wrong! While the two exits are indeed a quarter of a mile apart, the Peoria Exit is only a half-mile away (I've measured it). The next BGS in the distance, a quarter-mile away, has it right. The Peoria exit is actually at the gantry in the far distance.

Week of July 20, 2003:
What was once OK-33 westbound, just before it went over the Turner Turnpike. When the Kellyville exit was added to I-44, OK-33 was rerouted a bit to the west (left) and dug out so that it now goes under the turnpike, and the bridge that used to go over the turnpike was demolished. Picture taken from the point the the road is barricaded off from traffic.

Week of July 27, 2003:
Northern end of OK-58 in Alfalfa County, looking north at the Kansas State Line. Not even a "Welcome to Kansas" sign, just this warning that commercial thru traffic is not allowed on this road. For what it's worth, the Kansas side of the road is nowhere close to highway conditions, just barely one step above a dirt road.

Week of August 3, 2003:
Eastern end of the western OK-15, on the west side of Woodward. Not many quadplexed highways in the state. As of the start of this week this spot marks the westernmost point that I have EVER traveled within the state of Oklahoma. Pending an affirmative checkout of the Roadklahomobile, later this week I will be making it all the way out to the panhandle of the state.

Week of August 10, 2003:
Approaching a square-shaped traffic circle surrounding the Cimarron County Court House in Boise City, and the only highway sexiplex (six on the same road) in the state, one that wouldn't exist were it not for the Court House. If this had been a regular intersection, the sexiplex wouldn't exist. Approaching from a seventh highway, OK-325, which has its eastern terminus at the stop sign.
